廣朮化癖丸

This is 進食丸 enlarged: the same costus, haematite, angelica, cinnabar, bitter orange peel, croton frost and musk, with sparganium and zedoary added and the proportions redrawn. 廣朮 in the title is the alternative name of 莪朮, which is the same drug as the 蓬朮 of the ingredient list, so the title drug and the body drug are one; 廣朮 is not held as a separate identifier or alias in herbs.yaml, and the ingredient is entered under 莪朮 as bongchul. 煆 and 並 are left as the transcription prints them, per the house rule on those glyphs. 一錢二分半 is read as 1 don 2 fun 5 ri, that is 5 g.

治乳癖ㆍ食癥. 木香五錢, 代赭石(煆醋淬)ㆍ當歸(炒)ㆍ朱砂(硏)ㆍ枳殼(炒)ㆍ蓬朮ㆍ三稜(並炮) 各二錢半, 麝香ㆍ巴豆霜各一錢二分半. 右爲末, 麪糊和丸麻子大, 一歲兒米飮下二三丸. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats milk lump and food mass. Costus, 5 don; haematite (calcined and quenched in vinegar), angelica (fried), cinnabar (ground), bitter orange peel (fried), zedoary and sparganium (both blast-fried), 2 don 5 fun each; musk and croton frost, 1 don 2 fun 5 ri each. Powder the above, bind with wheat-flour paste into pills the size of a hemp seed, and for a one-year-old send down two or three with rice water. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Soa)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The largest of the three 化癖 pills and the one built on a mineral core: 5 don of costus leading, vinegar-quenched haematite, cinnabar, fried angelica and bitter orange peel, blast-fried sparganium and zedoary, and then musk and croton frost at 1 don 2 fun 5 ri apiece. Three of the nine drugs exist to break a mass (sparganium, zedoary, croton), three to move qi and blood around it, and three — haematite, cinnabar, musk — belong to the heavy, settling, aromatic class this chapter reaches for whenever something must be driven downward. The chapter gives no dose by weight anywhere and this must not be prepared.** Both warnings are written out in full on 進食丸, and the mercury statement on 辰砂膏 (jinsa-go-soa); the quantities here are larger than in 進食丸 relative to the rest of the formula.
