Frankincense Powder (Children chapter)
Yuhyang-san
한글 유향산 (소아) · Pinyin Ru Xiang San
A fourth prescription called 乳香散 stands in the corpus and this is it. The other three share nothing with it but the two resins: `yuhyang-san-gu` is the 綱目 dusting powder of frankincense, myrrh, alum and verdigris put on red mouth sores in 口舌門; `yuhyang-san-jeonbak` is the 得效 powder of stir-fried white atractylodes, stir-fried Korean angelica, angelica dahurica, cinnamon bark, frankincense, myrrh and licorice in equal parts for the pain of a contusion, in 諸傷門 1.4; `yuhyang-san-jangsang` is the 精要 powder built on calcined pyrite with Korean angelica and fennel for a flogging wound, in 諸傷門 1.10. This leaf is from 湯氏, has only three drugs, gives no weights at all, and is made by rubbing a lump of costus into water rather than by powdering a fixed list — so it is a homonym and takes the chapter tail. Two collation notes sit inside this leaf at the page boundary, 真 : 眞 and 正 : 上. Neither left-hand character is anywhere in the leaf: 真 is not in it at all, and 正 belongs to the 腹痛腹脹 section prose above, where the transcription reads 十全丹≪方見正 against the First Edition's 方見上. Both notes are reported outward rather than acted on here.
