Translation

Treats vacuity cold with a slippery diarrhoea that cannot be held back. Calcined limonite, calcined halloysite, dragon bone, long pepper, blast-fried chebula, blast-fried dried ginger, nutmeg roasted in dough and blast-fried aconite, equal parts. Powder, make pills with vinegar paste the size of a paulownia seed, and take seventy on an empty stomach in rice water. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Daebyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Three mineral binders — limonite, halloysite, dragon bone — with aconite, ginger, long pepper, nutmeg and chebula for warmth. It is the mineral counterpart to Palju-san's opiate: a stool arrested by adsorption and astringency rather than by slowing the gut. Kaolin and other clay minerals do bind water and toxins, and halloysite is still the active principle of several antidiarrhoeal preparations, so the mechanism here is not imaginary. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
