Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治急中風不省, 身强口噤, 鼻乾面黑, 遍體壯熱, 汗出如油, 目瞪唇靑, 心神迷悶, 形體如醉, 痰涎壅塞, 胸喉中如拽鉅聲. 雄黃(水飛) 十五兩, 白礬(枯)ㆍ天竺黃ㆍ牛膽製南星 各二兩五錢, 天雄(炮) 一兩二錢半, 膩粉ㆍ龍腦 各五錢, 牛黃 二錢半, 金箔 八十片(爲衣). 右末, 煉蜜和勻, 每一兩半分作十丸, 金箔爲衣, 每一丸, 新汲水和灌之, 扶坐使藥行. 良久, 以薄荷汁更化一丸灌之, 立愈. 如肥盛體虛多涎有風之人, 宜常以此藥隨身備急爲妙. 《局方》 ○范子黙中風涎塞不語, 服金虎丹四丸, 氣不通, 涎不下, 魂魄飛揚如墮江湖中, 頃欲絶. 卽灸聽會ㆍ頰車ㆍ地倉ㆍ百會ㆍ肩髃ㆍ曲池ㆍ風市ㆍ三里ㆍ絶骨ㆍ耳前髮際ㆍ大顀ㆍ風池, 氣遂通, 吐痰一椀, 繼又下十餘行, 伏枕半月遂平. 此蓋灸百會之力, 其吐瀉乃服金虎丹之功也. 《資生》

Translation

Treats urgent wind stroke with loss of consciousness, the body stiff and the mouth clamped, the nose dry and the face black, the whole body in a strong fever, sweat pouring like oil, the eyes staring and the lips blue, the heart-spirit confounded and oppressed, the form as if drunk, phlegm drool congesting and blocking, and a sound in the chest and throat like a saw being drawn. Water-ground realgar, 15 nyang; calcined alum, bamboo silica and arisaema prepared with ox bile, 2.5 nyang each; blast-fried aconite tuber, 1 don 2 fun 5 ri over a nyang; white lead and borneol, 5 don each; ox gallstone, 2.5 don; gold leaf, eighty leaves, as a coating. Powder, mix with refined honey, divide each nyang and a half into ten pills, coat with gold leaf, and for each pill mix it with newly drawn water and pour it in, supporting the patient in a sitting position so the medicine travels. After a good while, dissolve another pill in mint juice and pour it in — healed at once. For a stout, full-bodied but inwardly vacuous person with much drool who is subject to wind, it is excellent to keep this medicine always about one against emergency. Fan Zimo, struck by wind with drool blocking him and unable to speak, took four Geumho-dan pills; the qi did not pass, the drool did not come down, and his soul flew up as if he were sinking into a river, and in a moment he was all but gone. Moxa was at once applied at Cheonghoe, Hyeopcha, Jichang, Baekhoe, Gyeonu, Gokji, Pungsi, Samri, Jeolgol, the hairline before the ear, Daechu and Pungji; the qi then passed, he vomited a bowl of phlegm, and afterwards passed stool more than ten times, and after a fortnight keeping to his pillow he was well. This was the power of moxa at Baekhoe, while the vomiting and purging were the work of the Geumho-dan. — Gukbang 局方 · Jasaeng 資生 (Donguibogam · Pung)
