Translation

Treats the yin toxin of cold damage. Aconite kusnezoffii and dried ginger in equal parts. Make a coarse powder, dry-fry until the colour turns, let cool, and powder finely again. 1 don each time with a pinch of salt and a little water, decocted together and taken warm. — Boje Bonsabang 本事 (Donguibogam · Han)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Two drugs and a careful preparation: ground coarse so the heat penetrates, dry-fried until the colour changes, cooled, then ground fine. Dry-frying aconite kusnezoffii is a genuine detoxification step and the colour change is the compounder's endpoint for it, which makes this the most responsibly prepared of the chapter's aconite formulas. The pinch of salt is there to lead the drugs downward to the kidney. One don a dose is also modest by the standards of this section. Aconite kusnezoffii remains cardiotoxic even fried. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
