Translation

Treats wind striking the bowels with the hands and feet insensible. The exterior should first be resolved, and afterwards Yupung-tang used in regulation. Notopterygium, saposhnikovia, tangkuei, chuanxiong, red poria, tangerine peel, pinellia, lindera, angelica dahurica and cyperus, 8 fun each; cassia twig, asarum and licorice, 3 fun each. Cut up, make one packet, add three slices of ginger and decoct in water. — Manbyeong Hoechun 回春 (Donguibogam · Pung)

Clinical commentary 臨床

A gentler alternative to Soseungmyeong-tang for the same indication, and the sequence attached to it is the point: resolve the exterior first, then regulate with Yupung-tang. No aconite, no ephedra, and the wind drugs balanced by blood movers and phlegm drugs — which makes it the formula to reach for when the stroke is not fresh and the patient cannot be sweated. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
