Translation

Clinical commentary 臨床

Five drugs, no purgative, no cold drug, and the indication explicitly covers before as well as after childbirth. That restraint is the point: the chapter's other formulas for women's constipation contain rhubarb and mirabilite, which have no place in pregnancy, and this is the one entry that recognizes it. Tangkuei and chuanxiong nourish and move the blood, saposhnikovia and bitter orange move the qi, and the thing is safe. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
