Translation
Orders the qi and makes the stool slip. Treats wind constipation and blood constipation in the old and the depleted with the stool hard to pass, and is suited also to a woman constipated after childbirth. Perilla seed and hemp seed, any quantity in equal part, pounded to a pulp together, mixed with water and strained for the juice; boil it with a little polished-rice flour into a gruel and eat it. Taken long it is better still. An old woman suddenly had abdominal pain, headache, nausea and no appetite. This was exactly an old person's wind constipation: the viscera and bowels congested and blocked, the qi gathering in the chest so that the belly was distended and she was nauseated and would not eat, and rising to the crown so that her head ached and her spirit was unclear. She took this gruel, and at two sips the qi passed off; a dozen lumps of bound stool came down, the viscera and bowels ran free, and all her complaints went of themselves. — Bonsabang 本事 (Donguibogam · Daebyeon)
