Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑
治婦人大便不通. 大黃ㆍ芒硝ㆍ桃仁ㆍ郁李仁 各一兩, 木香 五錢. 右爲末, 每二錢, 米飮調下. 《丹心》
Translation
Treats a woman whose stool will not pass. Rhubarb, mirabilite, peach kernel and bush-cherry kernel, 1 nyang each; costus root, 5 don. Powder, and take 2 don each time stirred into rice water. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Daebyeon)
Clinical commentary 臨床
The full purgative pair with two oily kernels and a qi mover, specified for women — which in this chapter generally means the constipation of pregnancy or the puerperium, though the Dansim does not say so. That matters, because mirabilite and rhubarb together are precisely what one would not give a pregnant patient.
