Translation

Treats wind striking the viscera with both passages shut and inhibited. Take this first, and afterwards regulate with Yupung-tang. Tangkuei, raw rehmannia, bitter orange, magnolia bark, areca, rhubarb, hemp seed and apricot kernel, 1 don each; notopterygium, 7 fun; wine-baked safflower, 3 fun. Cut up, make one packet and decoct in water. — Manbyeong Hoechun 回春 (Donguibogam · Pung)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The gentler of the chapter's two purgatives for the obstructed stroke patient, and the better judged: where Samhwa-tang gives rhubarb with two other movers and nothing else, this surrounds the rhubarb with tangkuei, rehmannia and the two oily seeds, so the bowel is moistened as it is opened. The Hoechun attaches the same sequence as elsewhere — this first, then Yupung-tang to regulate — which is the chapter's standing two-stage plan. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
