Donguibogam

Translation

Treats wind striking both the bowels and the viscera, with the stool and urine blocked and not free. Magnolia bark, rhubarb, bitter orange immature fruit and notopterygium, equal parts. Cut up; take 1 nyang as one packet, decocted in water, two or three times a day, and stop as soon as it frees the bowel slightly. — Yeokro 易老 (Donguibogam · Pung)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The Order the Qi purgative trio with notopterygium added to carry it to the wind, for the stroke patient who is also obstructed. The instruction that matters is the last one — stop as soon as it frees the bowel slightly — because a stroke patient cannot afford a thorough purge, and the chapter's three-way scheme puts this formula only at the interior end of it. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
