Translation

Treats the same as the above. Powder the materials of Ijung-tang, make honey pills the size of a bullet, and dissolve one in warm water for each dose. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Han)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The same four drugs as the decoction, pilled in honey and dissolved in warm water. The Bogam enters the pill separately because the two were not interchangeable in practice: a decoction was made up for an acute episode and a pill kept for the chronic case, and the honey and slow dissolution made the pill gentler on a stomach that could not take a strong draught. Three of the four formulas that follow in this section are further variants of the same base, which makes 理中湯 the most heavily modified formula in the chapter. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
