Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

卽<a href='/formulas/ijung-tang'>理中湯</a>倍甘草一倍, 爲末, 蜜和作丸彈子大也. 一名四順元. 《類聚》

Translation

It is Ijung-tang with the licorice doubled, powdered and made into honey pills the size of a bullet. Also called Sasun-won. — Uibang Yuchwi 類聚 (Donguibogam · Han)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The fourth member of the 理中 family in four consecutive entries — decoction, pill, licorice-doubled decoction, licorice-doubled pill — and listing all four separately is the Bogam at its most completist. For a reader it has a practical use: it shows that the dispensary kept both forms of both versions on hand, and that the choice between decoction and pill was made on how the patient could take it rather than on what was wrong with him. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
