Clinical commentary 臨床

A dysentery following malaria is a specific and well-attested sequence — the two diseases shared the same seasons and the same places, and a patient weakened by months of intermittent fever took enteric infection easily. The formula treats the aftermath rather than either disease: peony and atractylodes to rebuild, the two yellows in moderate dose, and the aromatics for the appetite. Specificity of this kind is rare in the chapter and worth noting. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
