Translation

Treats cough and urgent panting generally. Apricot kernel, ginseng, mulberry root bark and peach kernel, 1 don 5 fun each. Cut up, make one packet, add three slices of ginger and two jujubes, decoct and take. — Gukbang 局方 (Donguibogam · Haesu)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Four drugs in equal weight and the chapter's first choice for panting and cough without a cause attached. The pairing of apricot kernel with peach kernel is the thing to notice: both are oily seeds that bring the qi down, but peach kernel moves blood, so the formula assumes that a long cough has left stasis in the chest. Mulberry root bark drains the lung and ginseng holds the qi while the other three work downward. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
