Translation

Treats a man with damp genitals and yang wilting, unable to rise at every occasion. Aconite accessory root (blast-fried), cnidium seed, purple-tip flower, polygala, acorus, cuttlebone, clove and momordica seed 2 don each; borneol 1 don 5 pun. Powder them; take 5 don at a time, boil in three bowls of water down to one and a half, and wash the damp place and the scrotum warm with it twice a day. Keep the water and warm it for a second wash — the more washes the better. — Manbyeong Hoechun 回春 (Donguibogam · Jeoneum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The only external treatment for impotence in the chapter — a wash, not a draught, and read as wet cold sitting on the genitals rather than a vacuity within. Aconite and clove to warm the surface, cuttlebone to dry it, borneol to carry the rest through the skin. The Hoechun's instruction to keep the water and wash again says plainly how it was used at home. **Contains aconite accessory root and momordica seed, both toxic, and absorption through broken skin is real. This must not be prepared.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
