Translation

Treats the lily pattern after purging. Lily bulb, seven; talc, 3 nyang; hematite, 1 nyang. Decoct and take by the method given above. — Junggyeong 仲景 (Donguibogam · Han, lower)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Second of the six, and the pairing follows from what the purge did. Emptying the bowel drops the qi, and what rises in its place is rebellious — hence hematite, the heaviest settling drug in the materia medica, which pulls that upward surge back down. Talc at triple dose drains the residual heat out through the urine, which is the only route left open once the bowel has been stripped. The lily bulb is constant across all six formulas; what changes is what is put beside it, and here it is two minerals, one heavy and one draining. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
