Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治陰門內疳瘡, 生蟲, 下如枾汁, 臭穢難近. 大鯉魚一箇, 去頭皮; 硫黃一兩, 入魚肚中, 濕紙包黃泥固濟, 火煆烟盡, 爲末, 米糊和丸梧子大, 空心溫酒下三十丸. 《入門》

Translation

Treats gan sores within the vaginal opening breeding worms, with a discharge below like persimmon juice, foul enough that none can come near. One large carp with the head and skin removed; sulphur 1 nyang put inside its belly. Wrap it in damp paper, seal it over with yellow clay, and calcine it on the fire until the smoke is spent; powder, bind with a rice paste into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds, and take thirty on an empty stomach with warm wine. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Jeoneum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Sulphur sealed inside a carp, clay-luted and burnt until the smoke stops — the fish is both container and drug, and the calcining is what makes the sulphur tolerable by mouth. The indication is the most distressing in the chapter, and this is the only formula given for it internally. **Contains sulphur. This must not be prepared.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
