Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治同上. 五月五日蝦蟆ㆍ木香ㆍ硫黃ㆍ鐵精 等分, 爲末, 入麝香少許, 傅付患處. 《得效》

Translation

Treats the same as above. A toad taken on the fifth day of the fifth month, saussurea, sulphur and iron dust in equal parts. Powder them, add a little musk, and dust on the affected place. — Seui Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · Jeoneum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The dusting powder that follows the irrigation. The toad is specified by the day it was caught — the fifth of the fifth month, the year's most yang moment — which is calendar reasoning rather than pharmacy, and it is the only such dating in the chapter. Sulphur and iron dust are the working drugs, both drying and both used on eroded skin. **Contains sulphur applied to eroded mucosa, and musk from a CITES-listed species. This must not be prepared.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
