Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

去瞖障如神. 蕤仁泥一兩, 鵬砂一錢二分, 龍腦五分, 熊膽三錢. 右爲末, 入生蜜四兩, 調勻, 盛磁罐, 取少許點之. 《入門》

Translation

Removes an obstructing screen as if by a spirit. Prinsepia seed worked to a paste 1 nyang; borax 1 don 2 pun; borneol 5 pun; bear gall 3 don. Powder them, stir in 4 nyang of raw honey, store in an earthen jar, and take a little to dot on. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Four nyang of honey to one of prinsepia — mostly vehicle, which is right for something going on the eye. Bear gall is the one problem; without it the preparation is prinsepia oil, borax and borneol in honey, and that is a reasonable soothing drop. **Bear gall comes from a CITES-listed species and cannot lawfully be traded.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
