Translation

Treats dim flowering eyes, proud flesh, cloud screens and swelling pain, with divine effect. Red lead water-levigated 1 nyang; white lead, frankincense and sal ammoniac 5 pun each; borax and verdigris 3 pun each; myrrh 2 pun. Powder them, work them evenly into refined honey with a little water, smoke the mixture over burning mugwort, and for use thin a little with sesame oil and dot it on the eye. This is a divine formula. — Gogeum Uigam 醫鑑 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

A nyang of red lead with white lead, verdigris and sal ammoniac beside it, placed on the eye — of everything in the Bogam this is among the least usable. The Uigam calls it divine, which is a measure of how much a clouded eye was worth to a patient, not of what the preparation did. **Contains red lead, white lead, verdigris and sal ammoniac, placed on the eye. This must not be prepared.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
