Translation
Treats the flower screen. Borneol 1 don; mirabilite 5 don. Grind them to a powder and dot into the eye with a copper rod. — Uibang Yuchwi 類聚 (Donguibogam · An)
Clinical commentary 臨床
Two ingredients, both of which draw water — a strongly hypertonic powder put on the eye. It would have pulled fluid out of a swollen cornea and cleared it briefly, which is probably what was observed; the same principle is used today in a gentler form. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
