Clinical commentary 臨床

Sinew impediment — the joints bound and painful — and the formula pairs antelope horn with aconite, which is an unusual combination of a cooling liver-wind drug with a hot one. The logic is that the binding is wind and must be extinguished, while the cold that fixes it must be warmed; peony relaxes the sinew between them. For spastic contracture with pain that is not a bad reading, and peony with cassia remains the standard pair for cramping sinews. Antelope horn is prohibited and goat horn is the usual substitution. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
