Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治內傷下血, 用此以解絡脉之結. 黃連ㆍ枳殼各二兩剉, 以槐花四兩同炒, 揀去槐花. 右爲末, 蒸餠和丸梧子大, 白湯下五七十丸. 《入門》正傳枳殼湯同. 但剉五錢, 水煎服.

Translation

Treats bleeding from the bowel from internal damage; this is used to resolve the bind in the network vessels. Coptis and bitter orange 2 nyang each, cut up and stir-fried together with 4 nyang of sophora flower, the flower then picked out. Powder them, bind with steamed cake into pills the size of a firmiana seed, and take fifty to seventy down with plain hot water. The Jeongjeon's Bitter Orange Decoction is the same, but cut up 5 don and decocted in water. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Hyeol)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Sophora flower used only to fry the other two and then thrown away — the flower's quality is taken up by the coptis and bitter orange and the flower itself is not needed. It is the same logic as the Women chapter's processing at 1.3.9, where the vehicle carries and does not remain. 解絡脉之結 — resolving the bind in the network vessels.
