Treats accumulated heat with vexation and agitation, sores arising on mouth and tongue, red eyes and clouded head, stomach and intestines dry and rough, stool and urine bound and blocked. Forsythia 2 don; rhubarb, mirabilite, and licorice, 1 don each; mint, scutellaria, and gardenia, 0.5 don each. Cut the above, make one packet, add 7 green bamboo leaves and a little honey, decoct together down to half, stir in the mirabilite, remove the dregs, and take. — Gukbang 局方 (Donguibogam · Hwa)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The Song formulary's classic — forsythia in double measure above, rhubarb and mirabilite opening the door below, so the heat trapped at the diaphragm has both a coolant and an exit. Its stripped, platycodon-added remodel is Gagamyanggyeok-san, the boat-formula of the upper burner: same pharmacy, opposite direction of travel. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
