Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治齒齦出血. 鬱金ㆍ白芷ㆍ細辛各等分. 右爲末, 常擦牙, 仍以竹葉ㆍ竹茹, 入鹽煎水含漱. 《得效》

Translation

Treats bleeding from the gums. Turmeric root tuber, angelica dahurica and asarum in equal parts. Powder them and rub on the teeth regularly, and rinse the mouth with a decoction of bamboo leaf and bamboo shavings with salt added. — Seui Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · Hyeol)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Two acrid medicinals in a formula for bleeding — asarum and angelica dahurica are warming and dispersing. The reasoning is that the gum is bleeding because it is congested, and dispersing the congestion stops it; the salt-water rinse afterward does what a modern mouthwash does. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
