Translation

Treats accumulated water and fright water, or water drunk in excess accumulating in the spleen so that the four limbs swell and the body is hot. Adzuki bean, tangerine peel and radish seed (stir-fried) 2 don each; licorice 1 don; costus 5 pun. Cut up, make one packet, add 3 slices of ginger and 2 jujubes, decoct in water and take. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Bujong)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Adzuki bean leading a decoction rather than appearing as a food is the notable choice; it is the chapter's most-used single medicinal for oedema and has its own entry among the simples at 2.14.13. 驚水, fright water, is a term the chapter uses only here — water that gathers after a shock, which belongs with the emotional aetiologies the Accumulations chapter sets out at 1.1. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
