Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治黃腫絶妙. 鍼砂(煆紅醋淬)ㆍ香附子(便浸) 各六兩, 蒼朮ㆍ白朮各二兩半, 陳皮ㆍ神麴ㆍ麥芽各一兩半, 厚朴ㆍ甘草各一兩. 右爲末, 麪糊和丸梧子大. 米飮下五七十丸, 忌魚腥ㆍ濕ㆍ麪ㆍ生ㆍ冷等物. 有塊, 加三稜ㆍ蓬朮(幷醋煮) 各一兩半. 《正傳》

Translation

Treats yellow swelling, most excellently. Needle filings (calcined red and vinegar-quenched) and cyperus (child-urine steeped) 6 nyang each; atractylodes lancea and white atractylodes 2.5 nyang each; tangerine peel, medicated leaven and barley sprout 1.5 nyang each; magnolia bark and licorice 1 nyang each. Powder them, make pills with wheat paste the size of a firmiana seed, and take fifty to seventy down with rice broth, avoiding fish, damp and wheat foods, and raw and cold things. Where there are lumps, add sparganium and curcuma (both vinegar-boiled) 1.5 nyang each. — Uihak Jeongjeon 正傳 (Donguibogam · Hwangdal)

Clinical commentary 臨床

褪金 — to fade the gold — names the aim rather than the ingredients: the golden colour is to be drained out of the skin.
