Translation

Treats running-piglet mounting qi surging upward with dragging pain in the lower abdomen, with divine effect. Evodia 1 geun — of it four nyang steeped in wine, four in vinegar, four in boiling water and four in a child's urine, all then dried over a low fire; alisma 2 nyang. Powder the pair, bind with a wine-and-flour paste into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds, and take fifty to seventy on an empty stomach with salt decoction. The Immun calls it the Four-Processings Evodia Pill. — Gukbang 局方 (Donguibogam · Jeoneum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Two medicinals, one of them in four guises. A geun of evodia is divided in four and each quarter steeped in a different liquid — wine to move, vinegar to gather in, boiling water to blandness, a child's urine to draw downward — so that a single acrid warm drug arrives with four different inclinations. Alisma alone is added, to give the surging qi a way out below. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
