Translation

Treats running-piglet mounting qi surging upward with pain that cannot be borne. Fennel stir-fried 3 nyang; the first powder of white morning-glory seed 2 nyang; aconite main root (blast-fried), morinda and evodia 1 nyang 5 don each; toosendan fruit and fenugreek 1 nyang each. Powder them, bind with a wine-and-flour paste into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds, and take twenty to thirty on an empty stomach with wine. — Jikji 直指 (Donguibogam · Jeoneum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The chapter's strongest warming formula for mounting qi, and the one it later names again as a general treatment for the whole group. Fenugreek gives it its name and the lower burner its heat; the morning-glory seed is the one downward-draining drug among warm ones, so that what is driven upward has somewhere to go. **Contains aconite main root, which is toxic. This must not be prepared.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
