Translation

In the eighth and ninth months of pregnancy, where the foetal qi is congested and full, it should be taken regularly; it makes the foetus slip and the birth easy. Bitter orange 5 nyang, licorice 1 nyang. Powder them and take 2 don at a time sprinkled into plain hot water. Adding 1 nyang of cyperus is better still. It is also called Slippery Foetus Bitter Orange Powder, and also Bitter Orange Six to One Powder. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Buin)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Two medicinals at five to one, which is where the third name comes from. Bitter orange moves qi downward and outward, and the whole of the 瘦胎 section rests on the idea that a birth is eased by freeing the qi rather than by any action on the child. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
