Dried ginger, 2 nyang; poppy husk, 1 nyang; chebula flesh, 3 don; tangkuei and white peony, 2.5 don each; costus root, unripe tangerine peel, tangerine peel and licorice, 1.5 don each. Powder, make pills with honey the size of a pellet, and dissolve one in boiled water to take. — Seui Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · Daebyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

A large honey pill dissolved in hot water, one at a time — the chapter's most convenient dosing. The composition is warm and binding, with poppy husk again doing the real work on the stool frequency and ginger in quantity for the cold. The indication reaches to the pale red dysentery, meaning blood that is dilute rather than bright, which the tradition reads as cold and vacuity rather than heat. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
