Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治白痢. 益元散 一劑, 加乾薑 一兩. 右爲末, 飯丸梧子大, 白湯下五七十丸. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats white dysentery. One batch of Igwon-san with 1 nyang of dried ginger added. Powder, make pills with cooked rice the size of a paulownia seed, and take fifty to seventy in plain hot water. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Daebyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The twin of Cheongryuk-hwan earlier in the chapter: the same six-to-one base, ginger instead of red yeast rice, cold diarrhoea instead of hot. The pairing is deliberate and the names say so — the warming six and the clearing six — and together they show how this pharmacy turns one base formula to opposite ends with a single addition. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
