Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治下痢五色及噤口ㆍ疳ㆍ蠱ㆍ時疫諸痢. 陳皮ㆍ鸎粟殼各一兩二錢, 肉豆蔲ㆍ赤茯苓各四錢, 白扁豆ㆍ人參ㆍ木香各二錢. 右爲末, 每三錢, 空心, 米飮調下. 《正傳》

Translation

Treats a dysentery of five colours, and the clenched-mouth, gan-wasting, worm-curse and epidemic dysenteries. Tangerine peel and poppy husk, 1 nyang 2 don each; nutmeg and red poria, 4 don each; hyacinth bean, ginseng and costus root, 2 don each. Powder, and take 3 don each time on an empty stomach stirred into rice water. — Uihak Jeongjeon 正傳 (Donguibogam · Daebyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The broadest indication in the chapter — five of its dysentery categories at once — which marks it as a formula for the stage rather than the kind: any dysentery that has become chronic and is wasting the patient. Poppy husk and tangerine peel in equal and large amounts, with a little ginseng and hyacinth bean to support.
