Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治咯血. 杏仁四十粒(去皮尖硏細, 同黃蠟炒), 入靑黛一錢, 捏作餠子. 用時, 以乾柿一枚破開, 以餠置其中合定, 濕紙包煨. 硏爛, 米飮調服. 《正傳》

Translation

Treats hawking of blood. Apricot kernel forty, skin and tip removed, ground fine and fried with beeswax; add 1 don of indigo and press into a cake. To use, split open one dried persimmon, set the cake inside and close it, wrap in damp paper and roast in embers. Grind to a pulp and take stirred into rice broth. — Jeongjeon 正傳 (Donguibogam · Hyeol)

Clinical commentary 臨床

A cake of apricot kernel and indigo baked inside a dried persimmon — the persimmon is both vessel and medicine, as the egg is in the Women chapter's Gyehwang-san. Persimmon is cold and astringent, and the roasting cooks the whole into one thing.
