Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治咯血吐血, 虛勞嗽, 神效. 烏梅汁ㆍ梨汁ㆍ柿霜ㆍ白砂糖ㆍ白蜜ㆍ蘿葍汁各四兩, 生薑汁一兩, 赤茯苓末八兩<span class='sochu'>用乳汁浸曬九次</span>, 款冬花ㆍ紫菀末各二兩. 共入砂鍋內熬成膏, 丸如彈子大, 每一丸, 臨臥, 含化嚥下. 《入門》

Translation

Treats hawking of blood, vomiting of blood, and the cough of vacuity taxation, with spirit-like effect. Mume juice, pear juice, persimmon frost, white sugar, white honey and radish juice 4 nyang each; fresh ginger juice 1 nyang; powdered red poria 8 nyang <span class='sochu'>steeped in human milk and sun-dried nine times</span>; powdered coltsfoot flower and aster 2 nyang each. Put all together in an earthenware pot and reduce to a paste, make pills the size of a bullet, and take one at bedtime, held in the mouth to dissolve and swallowed. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Hyeol)

Clinical commentary 臨床

A sweet — mume, pear, persimmon frost, sugar, honey, radish — with two cough medicinals and poria that has been steeped in breast milk nine times over. Held in the mouth at bedtime to melt, and the throat is coated overnight. The milk-steeped poria is the odd element. Human milk is the tradition's richest nourishing fluid, and a dry medicinal soaked in it and dried nine times is meant to take that quality up.
