Translation

Treats every wind heat with the eyes red, swollen and painful. The tails of Korean angelica, chuanxiong, red peony, raw rehmannia, coptis, scutellaria, gardenia, gypsum, forsythia, saposhnikovia, schizonepeta, mint, notopterygium, vitex, chrysanthemum, tribulus, cassia seed, platycodon and licorice 5 pun each. Cut up, decoct in water, and take after food. — Manbyeong Hoechun 回春 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Nineteen medicinals at five pun each — the Hoechun's house style, a wide net lightly cast. Samul-tang's blood drugs underneath, the coptis-and-scutellaria pair for the heat, and the chapter's whole wind group on top; it is the formula to reach for when an eye is red and swollen and nothing narrower has been decided. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
