Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治烏風昏暗. 大黃ㆍ甘草 各五錢, 郁李仁ㆍ荊芥穗 各二錢半. 右剉分二貼, 空心水煎服. 《得效》

Translation

Treats black wind with dimness. Rhubarb and licorice 5 don each; bush cherry kernel and schizonepeta spikes 2 don 5 pun each. Cut up and divide into two packets; decoct in water and take on an empty stomach. — Seui Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · An)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Four medicinals and two of them purgatives — the only frankly downward formula among the internal obstructions. Black wind is read as liver repletion, and the Deukhyobang drains it through the stool rather than treating the eye at all; licorice at equal weight with the rhubarb is what keeps the purge from being violent. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
