Translation

Treats kidney-visceral wind pouring downward with sores and lichen breaking out. Aconite main root and wild aconite 1 nyang each, boiled with half a seung of black soybean until soft through, then peeled, the navel removed, sliced and dried over a low fire; add typhonium, gastrodia and earthworm 5 don each. Powder them, bind with a wine-and-flour paste into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds, and take thirty to fifty down with salt decoction on an empty stomach. — Bonsabang 本事 (Donguibogam · Jeoneum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Both aconites at a nyang each, boiled soft in black soybean before anything else is added — the soybean decoction is the detoxifying step and the softening is how the preparer knows it has worked. The earthworm is there for the sores rather than the wind, and gives the pill its blackness and its name. **Contains aconite main root and wild aconite, both toxic. This must not be prepared.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
