Translation

Treats bulging wind attacking upward with ringing ears and dizzy eyes, and pouring down into damp sores and itching of the genitals. Wild aconite — steeped in water for three days with the water changed daily, peeled and dried over a low fire — and tribulus (stir-fried) 5 don each; angelica dahurica, typhonium (raw), atractylodes lancea (stir-fried) and schizonepeta spikes 2 don 5 pun each. Powder them, bind with a rice paste into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds, and take thirty to fifty down with salted wine. — Jikji 直指 (Donguibogam · Jeoneum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Named for the tribulus but carried by the aconite, and the three-day soak with daily water changes is what makes the dose possible — alkaloids leach out, which is the point of changing the water rather than merely boiling. The indication reaches from the ears to the genitals, both read as one wind travelling the same channel. **Contains wild aconite, which is toxic. This must not be prepared.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
