Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治一切失血及血崩. 蓮蓬殼ㆍ黃絹ㆍ亂髮ㆍ百草霜ㆍ棕櫚皮. 右各燒存性, 等分. 加梔子(炒黑)ㆍ蒲黃(炒)ㆍ松烟墨ㆍ血竭. 共爲細末, 每三錢, 以生藕汁, 生蘿葍汁調服之. 或蜜丸, 米飮下五十丸亦可. 《回春》

Translation

Treats all loss of blood and blood flooding. Lotus seed pod, yellow silk, human hair, stove soot and palm bark, each burnt preserving its nature, in equal parts. Add gardenia (stir-fried black), cattail pollen (stir-fried), pine-soot ink and dragon's blood. Powder finely together and take 3 don at a time stirred into fresh lotus root juice and fresh radish juice; or make honey pills and take fifty with rice broth. — Manbyeong Hoechun 回春 (Donguibogam · Hyeol)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The first of three ash formulas that make up 1.25, 黑藥止血 — black medicines stop bleeding. Five things burnt to charcoal, four more added, and the whole taken in cold juice. The reasoning is the five phases: black is the colour of water, and water restrains the red of fire and blood.
