Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治衄吐便尿一切失血, 兼治內崩. 亂髮以皂角水淨洗, 曬乾, 燒灰爲末. 每二錢, 白茅根煎湯調下, 或醋湯調下. 《丹心》作丸, 名髮灰丸. 見上

Translation

Treats nosebleed, vomiting, bloody stool and bloody urine — all loss of blood — and also internal flooding. Human hair washed clean in gleditsia water, sun-dried, burnt to ash and powdered; 2 don at a dose stirred into imperata root decoction, or into vinegar decoction. Made into pills it is called Hair Ash Pill, given above. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Hyeol)

Clinical commentary 臨床

血餘 — the surplus of the blood — is the tradition's name for human hair, on the reasoning that hair is what the blood has to spare, and burning it returns it. Balhoe-san at 1.16 is the same remedy for bloody urine; here it is given for any bleeding. 以皂角水淨洗 — washed in gleditsia water — is the detail.
