Translation

Treats wind, cold and damp qi lodging as guests in the flesh and body, with the hands and feet slack and weak and numb. Notopterygium, atractylodes, turmeric and stephania, 2 don each; licorice, 1 don. Cut up, make one packet, add seven slices of ginger and decoct in water. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Pung)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Five drugs, and the smallest formula in the impediment sections. Notopterygium for the wind, atractylodes and stephania for the damp, and turmeric — which the tradition uses for pain in the limbs rather than for the liver — to move the blood through flesh that has gone numb. Whoever composed it had a clear idea of what each drug was for, which is more than can be said of the twenty-drug formulas elsewhere in the chapter. It is also the base that the next entry augments. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
