Translation

Treats wind, cold and damp impediment with numbness and insensibility and the hands and feet vexed and limp. Coix, 2 nyang; poria, 1 nyang 5 don; atractylodes lancea, notopterygium, saposhnikovia and blast-fried aconite kusnezoffii, 1 nyang each. Powder; 2 don each time, taken stirred into warm wine or scallion-white decoction. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Pung)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Six drugs with coix and poria taking more than half the weight, which makes it unambiguously a damp formula; the name says as much. Coix at two nyang is the tradition's bulk drug for damp in the flesh and is also an ordinary food, so this is a powder that could be taken for months. Aconite kusnezoffii is the one dangerous ingredient and is blast-fried here; at a third of a don per dose the exposure is modest by this chapter's standards. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
