Translation

Treats lockjaw with the blood congealed and the patient clouded and oppressed. Crow's feathers burnt to ash, 1 don taken stirred into wine. After taking it, drink a cup or two of wine to help the medicine's force. — Danggye Simbeop 丹心 (Donguibogam · Pung)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Feather ash in wine, with more wine after to help it along, which is as close to nothing as the chapter's prescriptions come. Burnt feather is carbonized keratin and has no action worth describing; the wine does. The entry survives because the single-simple tradition recorded whatever was tried, and in a disease as lethal as tetanus a great deal was tried. Its only clinical value is as a reminder of how much of this section is desperation. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
