The chapter's placement rule: food accumulation lodged in the middle and lower stomach duct is to be expelled downward — this pill and Jeonghyangbijeok-hwan govern it. Note on modern practice: croton frost (巴豆霜) is the defatted regulated form of a toxic medicinal; contemporary practice omits it — the formula stands as recorded.

Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑
治傷生冷食, 心腹滿痛. 荊三稜ㆍ神麴 各一兩, 石三稜ㆍ草豆蔲 各五錢, 升麻ㆍ柴胡 各三錢, 木香 二錢, 巴豆霜 五分. 右爲末, 蒸餠和丸菉豆大, 白湯下三十丸. 一名巴豆三稜丸. 《東垣》
Translation
Treats damage by raw cold food, with fullness and pain of the heart region and abdomen. Thorny sparganium and medicated leaven, 1 nyang each; stone sparganium and katsumada galangal seed, 5 don each; cimicifuga and bupleurum, 3 don each; aucklandia 2 don; croton frost 0.5 don.
