Translation

Treats mounting qi of every kind and the outer kidney swollen, distended and painful — one dose answers at once. Frankincense, myrrh, saussurea, aconite accessory root (blast-fried), fennel salt-fried, toosendan flesh, corydalis, whole scorpion (stir-fried) and ginseng in equal parts. Powder them, bind with a wine-and-flour paste into pills the size of parasol-tree seeds, and take a hundred on an empty stomach with yellow wine. — Gogeum Uigam 醫鑑 (Donguibogam · Jeoneum)

Clinical commentary 臨床

The Geumnyeongja-san pair — toosendan and corydalis — set inside a resin-and-scorpion formula for pain, with ginseng added so that a hundred pills of so much moving medicine can be taken on an empty stomach. The Uigam's claim of one dose answering is about the pain, not the hernia. **Contains aconite accessory root, which is toxic. This must not be prepared.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl.
