Translation
Dissolves a screen and membrane. Prinsepia seed 1 nyang, held in the mouth and the skin and shell removed; borneol 3 don; azurite 2 don. Grind them together very fine in a mortar, store in a box, and from time to time take a little and dot it into the eye. — Seui Deukhyobang 得效 (Donguibogam · An)
Clinical commentary 臨床
Three ingredients and the first of them prepared by being held in the mouth until the shell softens — an instruction repeated through this section, and one that tells you how small these preparations were. Prinsepia seed is the chapter's own eye drug and gives this group its oily base.
**Contains azurite, a copper carbonate, placed on the eye. This must not be prepared.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
