Translation

Treats wind damp with body pain that prevents turning from side to side, worse toward dusk. Ephedra and coix seed 2 don each; apricot kernel and licorice 1 don each. Cut up, make one packet, decoct in water and take. — Uihak Immun 入門 (Donguibogam · Seup)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Zhongjing's formula from the Jingui, and the only one in this section without aconite. Coix seed is the damp medicinal that works through the flesh rather than the interior, and it stands level with the ephedra. 日晡加劇 — worse toward dusk — is the timing that marks damp rather than wind, and it recurs in the Jaundice chapter at 5.2.4 for the same reason: the yin hours are when damp is heaviest. **Contains ephedra, which raises blood pressure and heart rate and is restricted in many jurisdictions.** — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
