Donguibogam 東醫寶鑑

治血痢ㆍ赤痢. 地楡ㆍ赤芍藥ㆍ黃連ㆍ靑皮 各等分. 右爲末, 每三錢, 空心, 以淡米飮調下. 《丹心》

Translation

Treats blood dysentery and red dysentery. Sanguisorba, red peony, coptis and unripe tangerine peel, equal parts. Powder, and take 3 don each time on an empty stomach stirred into thin rice water. — Dansim 丹心 (Donguibogam · Daebyeon)

Clinical commentary 臨床

Four drugs in equal part, and it is the chapter's pocket formula for a bloody stool: the haemostatic, the blood mover, the antibacterial and a qi mover, nothing more. Taken as a powder in thin rice water it needs no decoction, which for an acute dysentery in a household without a physician is the point. — Eui Young (Justin) Chung, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
